It is noted that the possible sale of weapons "will support the goals of foreign policy and national security of the United States", helping to "improve the security of the partner country", which is "an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Gulf region."
The proposed sale will boost the kingdom's ability to withstand current and future threats, the ministry said.
Raytheon Corporation will become the general contractor in the event of a deal.
