On Tuesday morning, the police were able to say that the person has not been fully identified but is probably a man in his 20s.

- We find a deceased person on Monday evening.

After what we have done around the scene, we have a preliminary investigation into murder.

It is clear to us that he has been killed, says Mattias Sigfridsson, Acting Chief of Police in Malmö.

It is unclear when the crime occurred

The police assume that the man is connected to serious crimes committed by criminal networks in Malmö.

He was found at Lindängsbadet on Monday evening, but the police do not know how long he had been there, or when the crime occurred.

- We have to wait for the forensic examination before we can comment on when the crime occurred.

Our forensics cannot comment on how long he was there.

The police cannot say at the moment whether he was shot.

Risk of escalation of violence

In recent weeks, a number of different serious crimes have been committed in, including several shootings.

The police are now trying to stop an escalation of violence.

- We know that when serious violent crimes happen, the risk of shootings increases in time and space.

It is of the utmost importance to prevent an escalation of violence, says Mattias Sigfridsson.

Isn't there an ongoing escalation now?

- It is, but it's about breaking it.

In the last month, we have had six or seven shootings and it is far too high.

No one has been arrested or suspected in the case.
