Before Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, landed in Taiwan's capital Taipei, criticism and threats had been directed at the visit from the Chinese side, and for a long time it was uncertain whether the trip would go ahead.

But, during Tuesday afternoon Swedish time, Pelosi landed.

By then, hundreds of thousands had already followed the journey, via the air traffic control service Flightradar.

So many people followed Pelosi's journey - at times hundreds of thousands of people at the same time - that the site crashed, and Pelosi's plane disappeared from the map.

And on social media, there was speculation: Was that what everyone had been looking at even Pelosi's plan?

And, if it were, isn't it risky for world leaders to sign their route so clearly and openly?
