Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed that the Arab summit scheduled to be held in his country in early November will be successful, and said that Algeria is ready to play a mediating role to resolve some disputes.

Tebboune said - in an interview with state television and a number of Algerian media - that his country is seeking diligently for Syria, the founding member of the Arab League, to participate in the summit, hinting that there are some objections.

The Algerian president revealed that his country will host a meeting of Palestinian factions on reconciliation before the Arab summit, stressing that "Algeria is capable of this task...we are with Palestine, regardless of the many facets that represent Palestine."

On the Libyan issue, Tebboune reiterated his country’s support for legitimacy in this country, and stressed that Algeria would not accept anything but what was decided by the UN Security Council, and stressed that “Algeria did not interfere in Libya’s internal affairs and did not send mercenaries, and it is with the reunification of the Libyan brothers, and with the solution.” Libyan Libyan.

The president added, "We are also the closest and largest neighbor to Libya, regardless of our sister Egypt. We have always been present in Libya, and we are with the elections, which are the only legitimate solution."

Terror risks

During the interview, the Algerian president also touched on the dangers of "terrorism" in the African Sahel region, and said, "Terrorism in Mali is a fait accompli, but part of it is fabricated to serve the strategic interests of other countries."

Tebboune vowed to hold accountable those behind the killing of Algerian diplomats in Mali, and said that their file was not extended.

He also said that his country believes that the solution in Mali is the full implementation of the Algiers Agreement, which charts a clear path allowing the integration of the north into the south, adding that his country's policy is to preserve the unity of the Malian territory and prevent its division.

BRICS group

During the interview, Tebboune raised the possibility of Algeria joining the BRICS group, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

He pointed out that BRICS interests Algeria, given that it is an "economic and political power", considering that joining this group will keep his country away from "the polarization of the two poles."

Tebboune previously participated in the BRICS summit via video link at the end of last June, and spoke at the time about "Algeria's approach to the need to seek to establish a new economic system that guarantees parity and equality between different countries."
