A 28-year-old policewoman tried to end her life by shooting herself in the chest on Friday morning at the Levallois-Perret police station (Hauts-de-Seine).

The young woman used her service weapon.

Seriously injured, she was taken to hospital where she underwent an operation.

A source close to the case told Le

Parisien

that the official would be out of danger.

Her state of health prevented the police officer from being heard by the investigators at the hospital.

The reasons that led her to attempt suicide in the locker room of her workplace remain undetermined.

Public road brigade

The young woman is from the south-west of France and had been assigned to the Levallois-Perret police station a little over a year ago.

The peacekeeper was described by colleagues as "a low-key woman" whose personal life details were not known.
