In recent years, the wolf population has increased greatly in Sweden and today there are around 400 wolves.

According to Andreas Carlson, they could be up to 600 wolves because the majority have had puppies.

This despite the fact that there is a parliamentary decision that says there should be 170-270 wolves in the country.

The Christian Democrat Andreas Carlson wants to see a sharp reduction in the Swedish wolf population.

- It shouldn't be necessary for the wolf to stomp onto the streets of Södermalm for people to understand that this is a very important issue.

We have to reduce the wolf population by a third to 170 wolves to make it possible to live and work in the countryside, says Andreas Carlson (KD).

The wolf is important to the ecosystem.

Isn't it good that there are many wolves then?

- It is not about us exterminating the wolf, the wolf must exist and be part of the ecosystem.

But when it gets to these sky-high levels that are at issue today, where the wolf is also fearless, then it is not good, he says.

Even in Jönköping County, it has been clearly noticed that the wolf population has increased.

Today there are two areas that were recently formed, one is the Brängen area and the other is the Bergaskogen.

In several places, including in Mullsjö, the wolf has been seen near communities.
