Meanwhile, he admitted that Russia assumed all the debts of the USSR in exchange for the fact that all his foreign property would go to Russia.

According to him, Ukraine agreed with this, but did not ratify the documents.

In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia had fully paid off the debts of the Soviet Union, and that Kyiv had refused to comply with agreements to return part of Soviet assets.

“The newly independent states had to give up part of the Soviet foreign assets, and the corresponding agreements were reached in December 1994 with Ukraine.

However, Kyiv did not ratify these agreements and later simply refused to comply,” Putin said.

He noted that Russia took upon itself the repayment of the debt of the USSR and fully paid off it by 2017.
