South Korea records 73,000 new cases of corona

New cases of the Corona virus (Covid-19) in South Korea fell on Sunday to less than 80,000 cases for the first time in a week, but the number of seriously ill patients reached its highest level in two months, in light of the continuing infections with the mutant omicron.

South Korea recorded 73,589 new infections with the Corona virus during the past 24 hours, including 341 imported cases, bringing the total number of cases to 19,776,50 infections, according to the Korean Agency for Disease Control and Prevention.

And the agency announced the registration of 20 new deaths from the Corona virus, bringing the death toll to 25 thousand and 47 deaths, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The rise in new infections led to an increase in the number of seriously ill patients.

The country reported 284 critical cases on Sunday, up from 242 the day before.

This is the highest number since May 18, when the number reached 313.
