A project the Yurok tribe started nearly two decades ago has recently borne fruit.

The other week, the fourth and last young bird was released, from the first group of condors to be released into the wild.

SVT has been able to come along and see the birds' first time ever in the wild.

Four more birds are to be released this year, and then the plan is to release between four and six a year.

Whether the project actually succeeds in bringing back a viable condor tribe remains to be seen, but the Yurok tribe and the project's experts are full of hope.
