The Minister of the Interior was on the move this Saturday in Lyon, in the Guillotière district, where the police had been violently attacked ten days ago.

A visit boycotted by the mayor of the city, Grégoire Doucet, and during which the minister announced the arrival of reinforcements.

Gérald Darmanin in operation seduction in Lyon in the district affected ten days ago by violence against several police officers.

Pointed out by Grégory Doucet, the city councilor, who criticizes him for not having kept his word on the national police force, announced on the spot, the Minister of the Interior wanted to cut short any controversy.

At the microphone of France 3 Rhône-Alpes, the former mayor of Tourcoing announced the arrival of police reinforcements in Lyon: "Regardless of the increases in the number of national police, here - 100 more police officers per year - I I decided to put a company of additional CRS. They will therefore be two in Lyon and at the disposal of the prefect and will remain ad vitam in Lyon. And then I also decided to reopen a second detention center for foreigners ".

570 police officers operational by the end of 2023

There are therefore 570 police officers who will be in post by the end of next year.

Among them, 300 come from the promise made by Gérald Darmanin last year to open 100 national police stations in Lyon each year over three years.

In addition, 40 officers will be assigned to the Lyon metropolitan area from Monday morning.

Added to this are the staff of the new permanent CRS company, which includes 70 additional men.

The remaining 200 positions will be filled by agents of the PAF, the border police as part of the opening of this second administrative detention center.

A way for the Minister of the Interior to eclipse the controversy he is the subject of after his tweet last week and to respond to the statements of the mayor of Lyon.
