According to Interior Ministry spokesman Salem al-Tunaiji, the floods affected the emirates of Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah, and people are being evacuated in a number of areas.
“We regret to inform you that six people from Asian countries died as a result of floods in these emirates,” RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the department.
Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported another dead, who had previously been listed as missing.
Earlier it became known that as a result of a landslide that occurred in the north-east of India due to heavy rains, at least 14 people were killed, another 30 were missing.
