• Events Los Bonnie and Clyde de Atrio: a story of love, luxury and debauchery after the theft of the film

  • Cáceres The Atrio restaurant reaches an agreement with its insurer to close the theft of luxury bottles, still without appearing

In the historic center of Cáceres you will find a paradise of gastronomy, privacy, experiences and accommodation.

This is Atrio, the restaurant and hotel created in 1986 by

José Polo and Toño Pérez

.

Thirty-five years together in their business after putting aside their initial plans to embark on a great adventure that has taken them to the top of their sector.

In these years, José and Toño have not stopped working, among other things, to create one of the best wineries in the world, with

4,000 references

, a space that clients and friends visit daily.

It was last October when they woke up with a great disgust.

They had been robbed in the cellar.

The thieves had stolen 45 bottles, including 38 bottles of

Romanée Conti

-of which only 3,500 bottles are labeled a year-, valued at 12,000 euros each, and another 7 bottles of Château d'Yquem.

And among the latter, the great jewel, a historic bottle, unique in the world

: Château d'Yquem from 1806

, valued at 310,000 euros, acquired by José and Toño in 2000 at Christie's auction in London.

The wine comes from the French region of Sauternes (Bordeaux).

Happy after their acquisition, they did not see that the original bottle, made by hand and mouth-blown, was somewhat larger than the others in the purchased lot.

When handling the transport box, the bottle broke at its neck.

Luckily, it was wrapped in plastic and the precious broth was not lost.

Polo and Pérez immediately traveled to Bordeaux

, where the winery's oenologist helped them with its correct conservation to return to Cáceres, already with the wine in its new and adequate bottle and also with the original bottle.

Both were exhibited in the Atrio warehouse.

Priscila, miss and erotic model: this is the "good girl" arrested for the robbery of Atrio

The disappointment was capital.

The thieves had dined at Atrio,

stayed at Atrio under a false name

, visited the cellar... And apparently they stole a

master key or used sophisticated techniques.

At night they committed the robbery and at dawn they left the place with the loot.

A few days ago they were arrested in Croatia without the bottles in their possession.

And their identities, like from a movie.

Constantin Golubic, a Romanian citizen also with a Dutch passport with a history of similar thefts, and Priscila Lara Guevara, a Mexican and former Miss Earth 2016 for the State of Mexico, according to sources in the investigation.

Investigation that is still underway to locate the bottles

and also the buyers, while the detainees are expected to arrive in Cáceres in a few days to go to court, according to the National Police in Extremadura at a press conference.

"We have turned the page

, and we don't want to give this a more media level either. For us it

has been very tremendous and painful

. Many times it happens that people stay with the economic issue, but it is much more. Behind there is something much more passionate It is something that we have achieved over more than thirty years

. It hurts, but we have decided that we have to move forward

, "says Toño Pérez to LOC.

They both know that it will be complicated, but never lose hope

.

"They have caught the thieves, and if the bottles appeared it would already be wonderful

. But that is going to be difficult for it to happen, because those things...", says Pérez.

These things do not usually happen because they are usually

commissioned by third parties.

In any case, the investigators continue with their investigations.

"We are taking this with the Scientist, and we cannot tell anything.

They have told us to be discreet and not to give any type of data.

Because some information is circulating around there... and almost none of it is true," they say.

The owners and founders of Atrio strictly comply with the virtue of discretion in their business, and in this case they were not going to be less.

Obviously they do not reveal details, but anyone suggests

new security measures

, knowing the importance of the wines in their cellar.

"There were already, as is logical, but

we reflect

. If

there are thieves who are capable of entering NASA...

The measures were quite good, including cameras that have everything recorded. But we are happy because fortunately there were no no type of aggression against anyone, something that when it happens in a robbery is usually very traumatic," they say.

It seems clear that Atrio will try to

reinforce these security measures

, but Toño Pérez and José Polo are clear: "Despite what has happened,

we are not going to stop sharing our space and our winery with our clients

and with all the people Historically,

our visitors always come down and get to know the winery.

And we show it and offer it with all the naturalness in the world, because it wouldn't make sense to have great things in the house if you can't share them with others".
