Russian state-owned gas company Gazprom has stopped supplying gas to Latvia.

According to AFP news agency, Gazprom said through Telegram, "Today, we stopped supplying gas to Latvia. Latvia has violated the terms of gas purchase."

The decision came a day after the Latvian energy company said it was buying Russian gas in euros instead of rubles.

After receiving sanctions from the West after the invasion of Ukraine, Russia announced in March that it would stop supplying gas to Europe if it does not pay gas payments in rubles.

In late April, Gazprom completely stopped gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria, which refused to pay the ruble.
