- You could say it looks like that.

Those who perhaps need to think about it above all are those who are responsible for their own drinking water supply.

If you have had problems in previous years when it has been dry, you should start thinking about your water consumption, says Anders Retzner.

Own wells, among other things, are included in the so-called small groundwater reservoirs.

But even in the large aquifers, water levels are low.

The rain hasn't helped

After the heat wave about a week ago, there has been a lot of rain in Sörmland, but Anders Retzner believes that it does not significantly help the groundwater levels.

- It's good when it rains.

But the situation you are in now is due to the fact that you had very little rain during the spring, in relation to what is normal in the spring.

The water that comes in the spring is important for replenishing the groundwater.

The rain in the summer evaporates to a greater extent and also competes with plants, he says.

More is required

The groundwater levels in the small reservoirs, such as own wells, get a chance to top up already this autumn when it usually rains more.

In order for the groundwater levels in the large reservoirs to return to normal levels, however, more is required.

- Then a long period of cool weather and a lot of precipitation is needed.

It could be months or even a year with slightly more rainfall than normal.

The big magazines react slowly to weather changes, says Anders Retzner.
