Between 1936 and 1947, a community was built in connection with the copper mine in Laver.

By the standards of the time, the society was state-of-the-art with, among other things, running water, street lights, a swimming pool, people's houses, shops and a school.

When the copper mine was no longer profitable, the community was wound up.

Many curious people find themselves here

Älvsbyn's former social democratic municipal councilor Bill Nilsson has met many of those who lived in the community and today guides curious tourists and busloads of pensioners associations who seek the old ruins.

- It is a fascinating place.

I enjoy walking around here and fantasizing about all the people who moved here, says Bill Nilsson.
