In Åmål, she has been given her own street and memorial site.

The author and journalist Ida Bäckmann, who at the beginning of the 20th century belonged to the small group of women who traveled all over the world and wrote for major newspapers.

A newly formed society wants to shed new light on her work.   

In 1913, Ida Bäckmann ended up in bad weather when she published a book about the author Gustaf Fröding, with whom she had a love relationship for a few years.

- That scandal with the book has colored her history far too much.

Want to publish children's books

The society, which has been active since spring, has plans to issue new gifts of the author's children's books, which are said to have inspired Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking. 



- There are three books that take place here in Åmål and depict a wild girl, so it's a fun thing.
