In response to the alarming human rights situation in Russia, marked by the imposition of numerous restrictive and freedom-damaging measures in recent years, 38 OSCE participating States, including France, activated the OSCE Moscow Mechanism on 28 July 2022.

It is noted that an expert mission will be created, whose task will be to assess the state of Russia's fulfillment of its obligations.

Earlier, Russia's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Alexander Lukashevich, called it impossible to remove Russia from participating in the OSCE.
