The DRC auctioned 27 oil blocks and 3 gas blocks.

The international calls for tenders were officially launched on Thursday July 28 in Kinshasa.

Despite the opposition of some international NGOs like Greenpeace who fear an ecological catastrophe, the Congolese government wants to speed up the process.

This project is piloted at the highest level.

It was Félix Tshisekedi himself who launched these calls for tenders in front of diplomats, representatives of African oil-producing countries and delegates from the oil industry.

According to government data, 85% of the country's hydrocarbon potential remains unexplored.

The ambition displayed today is to join the nations that have made their hydrocarbon wealth the real spearhead of their economy.

Felix Tshisekedi counts, he says, on this lever to accelerate the process of development of the country and improve the living conditions of the Congolese populations.

For him and his entourage, the Congo must be a country-solution first for its people and then for the rest of the world.

Responding to the criticisms formulated by the NGOs, Felix Tshisekedi affirmed that the most modern means in terms of environmental protection will be put to use.

The government will now have to face a campaign led by NGOs like Greenpeace who are trying to dissuade the big oil groups from investing in this project.
