According to the Hong Kong Business Daily, the Education University of Hong Kong (Educational University) announced on the 27th that starting from the 2023/24 academic year, the compulsory course "inter-college core subjects" will be opened, and elements of the Greater Bay Area will be introduced, among which The "Greater Bay Area Visit" is calculated as 1 credit and is implemented in stages in all full-time undergraduate programs. It is the first Hong Kong University to include the Greater Bay Area visit as a compulsory course.

  Li Zijian, Academic and Principal Vice-Chancellor of EdUHK, said that the study tour has been in preparation for over a year and has been approved by the UGC. The University will arrange for students to visit and study in different parts of the Mainland according to different course content and requirements, and the study time will vary. It is expected that the inspection fee will be free. As for the expenditure required for isolation, it is still necessary to discuss and make a decision.

  EdUHK said that it will launch the Greater Bay Area School Experience Pilot Program from the next school year, for students who major in education courses and are interested in teaching in the Greater Bay Area to go to Shenzhen, Hong Kong Peiqiao College, Longhua Xinyi School, Guangzhou and Da, Hong Kong and Macau. The school, and one of the schools of the Dongguan and Da Hong Kong and Macau Children's School, which will officially open in the next school year, will provide 4 to 6 places for each school for three weeks.

  Li Zijian pointed out that it is expected that about 12 to 18 students will participate. They plan to teach subjects such as Chinese, English, mathematics, physical education and visual arts. They will also be arranged for class observation, tutoring and participate in the organization of extracurricular cultural exchange activities. Students are required to submit reports , a certificate will be issued for satisfactory performance, which will be recorded in the transcript.

  Li Zilong said that the development of the Greater Bay Area is a major national development strategy in recent years. In order to cooperate with the UGC to promote the active participation of universities in the development of the Greater Bay Area, the study of the Greater Bay Area is listed as a compulsory subject. Whether students will develop in the Greater Bay Area in the future depends on personal choice.

  EdUHK expects to roll out the four-year senior entry programme in the 2024/25 academic year, and to implement it in all bachelor's degrees in the 2026/27 academic year.
