Royal House The life of controversies and scandals of the infante don Carlos de Borbón
Felipe VI went last Tuesday, July 26, to
the M-30 funeral home
to say
goodbye
to his second cousin,
Sonia de Borbón-Dos Sicilias,
who died unexpectedly on Sunday at the age of 52.
The King was received by two relatives of her deceased, who accompanied him to her room so that he could say goodbye to her.
The Monarch went alone,
without the company of Queen Letizia, and after having spent the whole morning working on three audiences in the palace.
After saying goodbye to his second cousin and
showing his condolences
to his closest relatives, the King left the Madrid funeral home.
His Majesty wore a black tie as a sign of mourning for the deceased,
niece of the
Infante Don Carlos
and related to the Spanish Royal Family through María de las Mercedes, Countess of Barcelona, and the Monarch's paternal grandmother.
Beyond blood ties, Sonia has been one of Don Felipe's cousins with whom the Monarch
has had a closer
personal relationship throughout his life.
The Infanta Elena was accompanied by Carlos García Revenga. GTRES
The King was not the only member of his family to come to say goodbye to his cousin;
The
Infanta Elena
arrived at the
burning chapel
to offer the last goodbye to her deceased and show her support for her family.
The Duchess of Lugo, whom we saw
dressed completely in black,
was accompanied by her personal secretary for years ,
Carlos García Revenga
, a great friend of the younger sister of the deceased,
Mencía de Morales
.
Hours later, Doña Elena left the funeral home and before getting into the car that was waiting for her, Felipe VI's sister
said goodbye one by one to everyone
and each of the closest relatives of the deceased.
She, who is very familiar, was very
affected by her loss,
given the youth of her cousin, since she was barely 52 years old.
María Zurita, in the funeral home. GTRES
Beyond the union of the King and his sister in the pain of loss, there were many relatives and friends who came to the Madrid funeral home to say their last goodbye.
Thus, we saw
Cristina de Borbón-Dos Sicilias
, who was very affected, as well as
María Zurita
, who arrived dressed completely in black.
Gonzalo de la Cierva,
husband of
Patricia Olmedilla.
