The government says that the Armed Forces have not expressed any desire to make it possible for soldiers to be active for longer than twelve years.

Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist (S) therefore sees no need for an amendment to the law.

- The idea was that during these twelve years you should be able to set out a path if you want to continue in the Armed Forces as an officer or specialist officer or something else, he says.

But there are those who want to remain in their current position?

- Regardless of how they choose to do it, they will have a military deployment within the framework of the Armed Forces and in a crisis situation will do services for Sweden.

You won't act on your own initiative to change this law?

- I have not taken that type of initiative.
