Germany announces delivery of multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine

German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced today, Tuesday, that Germany has delivered Ukraine multiple Mars 2 rocket launchers, as well as three howitzer artillery pieces.

"The promised Mars 2 multiple rocket launchers and three other pieces of 2000 howitzers were supplied," said the politician, who belongs to Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democratic Party.

On Monday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Resnikov announced the arrival of the first three pieces of Gibbard air defense tanks from Germany, and tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition.

For its part, Lambrecht said that the number of Gibbard anti-aircraft guns that have been delivered has reached five, and indicated that Ukraine will receive from the industry sector in her country 30 pieces of Gibbard systems, in addition to about 60,000 rounds of ammunition, mostly from the German army.

The Mars medium artillery system can fire missiles with different modes of operation, for example, GPS-guided missiles or mine-launching missiles to block out parts of land.

Launch batteries with a combat payload of up to 12 missiles can be installed on tracked vehicles with a speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

Lambrecht explained that the industry sector will supply Ukraine next September with a radar to locate Cobra artillery, as a complement to these systems, and the minister said that the contract has already been signed, and now the training of Ukrainian soldiers on this highly complex system begins.

The German minister stated that it is also expected to start training on the Iris-TSLM anti-aircraft system in a few days, and said that the manufacturer will be able to supply this system to Ukraine in the fall.
