The working atmosphere between the two delegations has so far been without tension.

The head of the UN peacekeeping missions even believes that on the last renewal of the mandate of Minusma,

which made Bamako cringe

, there are now convergences of view.

"

Things are finally converging well, because on the one hand, we have a positive dynamic and, on the other, we have this work that we are going to do totally in common and we have spoken about it at length with Minister Abdoulaye Diop

", added says Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the head of UN peacekeeping missions.

Speaking in turn at a joint press conference, the Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs wanted to reassure his host.

Ongoing dialogue with the UN

"

Mali wishes to continue working with the United Nations,

" said Abdoulaye Diop, Mali's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

What Mali wanted was for the work to be done while respecting Mali's sovereignty.

The dialogue with the UN will be permanent, added the head of Malian diplomacy, who is also playing appeasement on another subject,

that of the 49 Ivorian soldiers arrested in Bamako about two weeks ago.

"

In parallel with this judicial process, Mali has always indicated that it is also open to dialogue and a peaceful settlement, because we do not want to go to war with any neighboring country

," said Abdoulaye Diop.

The UN, for its part, encourages the amicable settlement of this affair.
