According to the indictment, the 57-year-old tried to kill the victim when he hit him in the head with an axe.
The man in his 30s managed without life-threatening injuries, which was a pure coincidence, according to the prosecutor.
The man who received several blows to the head, has also hit the 57-year-old in the face - now he is also charged with assault.
Evidence includes images from surveillance footage and witnesses will also be heard during the trial.

The police were called to Bussparken in the central parts of Visby on 20 June.
A crime scene was cordoned off for technical examination.
