The National Health Insurance Company (Daman) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Center for Shelter and Humanitarian Care (Ewaa), affiliated with the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the areas of human rights protection and the provision of health care to beneficiaries residing in the center's shelters.

The memorandum of understanding works to consolidate the partnership between “Daman” and “Ewaa”, and unify the efforts made by both sides to serve the community and its members, based on social responsibility, especially for those in need of assistance and necessary health care, to build a society that empowers its members and protects them from the dangers of violence.

The agreement was signed by Sarah Shuhail, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Accommodation and Humanitarian Care, and Hamad Abdullah Al-Mehyas, CEO of the National Health Insurance Company.

The agreement comes within the framework of the joint efforts between the two sides to advance a strategy that works to provide health care to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, as Daman will provide free and comprehensive health insurance coverage for victims residing in the center's shelters.

The agreement looks forward to providing the various comprehensive health care services they need.

The Director General of the Center, Sarah Shuhail, said, “The agreement crowns our solid partnership with the National Health Insurance Company, which has gone through many stations, and the close cooperation in it has had a strong imprint in transforming the beneficiaries from victims into empowered individuals in their communities.

During our work together over the years, we have witnessed a keenness to reinforce the center’s values ​​that guarantee the beneficiaries the best means of empowerment, confidentiality and privacy.”

She added: "The center's strategic objectives are based on establishing a network of complementary services that includes local, federal, regional and international partners, to provide integrated and sustainable services that achieve the highest level of care and empowerment for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.

Given the nature of the center’s work and the type of cases it receives, the health aspect, in which Daman will play an important role, is a necessary factor during the stages of psychological and social rehabilitation for victims.”

For his part, the CEO of the National Health Insurance Company, Hamad Abdullah Al-Mehyas, stressed that “the signing of the memorandum reflects Daman’s efforts towards providing health services and comprehensive care of the highest standards for all members of the state’s society, in line with our goals to incubate and provide various necessary health care services. For those who need it, as it is our responsibility to support national efforts in providing health care to members of society, especially the victims, who are in dire need of various aspects of care.”
