The US ambassador and special envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, said that he had held talks with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity in Libya, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, and the Prime Minister-designate from the Libyan House of Representatives, Fathi Bashagha, and that they confirmed their commitment to avoiding violence and finding ways to calm the situation in the wake of the recent tragic deaths. .

He added - in a series of tweets - that he discussed with Dabaiba and Bashagha, in two separate calls, the possible steps to restore the election track as soon as possible, as the only way to solve the problem of legitimacy.

For his part, Bashagha said that he agreed with the US envoy and ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, during a call, on the need for joint action to stop the recent unrest.

Bashagha added - in a tweet - that "the violence was committed by a government that has outlawed legitimacy and mandate, and is out of law," as he put it.

He stressed that "only Libyan solutions are capable of solving the Libyan problems, stressing the importance of holding fair elections, to get rid of the gang of corruption that permeates the state," as he described it.

Oil-rich Libya is witnessing a political division and power struggle between two governments, one of which is the Fathi Pashaga government, which was commissioned by the House of Representatives in early March, and the National Unity Government headed by Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, which refuses to hand over power except to a government that comes through an elected parliament.

While Bashagha describes the Dabaiba government as expired, and demands to enter Tripoli and take over his duties, while he takes the city of Sirte as the temporary seat of his government with the support of the House of Representatives.
