At the meeting of experts held on the 25th, the government will support the fields that the government will support in the future at the meeting of experts held on the 25th about the proposal to proceed with research in 20 fields over the "specific important technology" stipulated by the Economic Security Promotion Law last week. It was pointed out that it is important to use the technology for the benefit of society when narrowing down the survey.

Regarding the Economic Security Promotion Law, on the 19th, the government compiled a draft of basic guidelines for supporting the development of "specific important technologies" related to national security, and conducted research in 20 fields such as AI = artificial intelligence and biotechnology. It shows the policy of narrowing down the targets to be supported.

In response to this, on the 25th, a meeting was held to hear the opinions of experts on the government's proposal, and 18 people including those from universities and companies attended.

At the beginning, Minister of Economic Security of Japan Kobayashi said, "Each country is highly interested in the law. I want to proceed with a sense of speed."

The meeting is held privately, and according to the Cabinet Office, which serves as the secretariat, it is commendable from experts that it is clearly stated that startup companies will be able to easily participate in research and development of specific important technologies. It was also pointed out that an organization that narrows down the fields to be supported should be considered from the perspective of making use of the technology for society.

The government intends to make a cabinet decision on basic guidelines by the end of September after the discussions at the Experts' Meeting and the procedures for public comments.
