Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi said on Monday that his government is proceeding to approach the UN Security Council regarding the recent "Turkish attack", which led to the killing and wounding of a number of citizens in Dohuk Governorate in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denied the involvement of his forces in the attack. He considered it a terrorist act aimed at harming the relations of the two countries.

During his meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Hennis-Plasschaert, Al-Kazemi called on the United Nations and the international community to listen to the Iraqi point of view in this regard in a way that enhances Iraq's sovereignty over its lands and protects its citizens, according to an official statement.

For his part, Iraqi Army Chief of Staff Abdul Amir Rashid said that there is an increase in the number of Turkish military points, and that they are now occupying many areas in northern Iraq, as he put it.

He added that the solution lies in deploying the army and Peshmerga forces in these areas, to force the Turks to leave their positions.

Iraq had accused Turkey of involvement in the attack on a resort in Dohuk last Thursday, which killed 9 people and wounded 22 others.
