A 22-year-old man died in Lake Bourget (Savoie) overnight from Friday to Saturday.

He succumbed to a drowning in Bourget-du-Lac (Savoie), where he spent the night with several friends.

The victim jumped into the water from a pontoon in the company of a young girl.

This is the only one to be brought to the surface alone, says France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

A body 6 m deep

The swimmer immediately tried to pull the young man up.

The emergency services and the gendarmes of Chambéry were alerted by the other members of the group.

One of the soldiers explained that the young woman had not been able to bring her friend to the surface because it was too heavy.

Divers responded and located the victim's body approximately 45 minutes later.

It was at a depth of 6 m.

Brought back to the shore, the young man could not however be revived by the rescuers of the SMUR.
