Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer.

In Sweden, approximately 700 women are affected annually, and only about half are still alive five years after they received their diagnosis.

When Martina Schäfer was in such pain around Christmas Eve 2020 that she was urgently admitted to the University Hospital in Uppsala, her cancer was discovered, and she had to operate on both ovaries as well as the uterus, appendix and part of the intestine to remove the entire twenty centimeter tumor .

"I want to tell - because knowledge saves lives"

Today, almost exactly one year has passed since Martina Schäfer was declared healthy.

Now she chooses to tell about her experiences to contribute to awareness among other women.

- If I can encourage even one woman to be alert for symptoms of ovarian cancer and seek help in time, it is a win.

Knowledge actually saves lives, she says.
