This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“Sergey Lavrov arrived on a visit to the Republic of the Congo.
This is the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia/USSR to the Republic of the Congo,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
She recalled that after gaining independence, the republic developed friendly relations with the Soviet Union.
Earlier, during a visit to Cairo, Lavrov met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, as well as with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri.
In addition, Lavrov met with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Abul Gheit.
