Zelensky thanks America for sending powerful weapons to his country

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the United States for stepping up its military bomber assistance, with upcoming deliveries of more missiles, vehicles and drones.

Zelensky said in a tweet to him on the social networking site "Twitter" today, Saturday: "Thank you, President Biden, for the new defense aid package to Ukraine. Strong weapons, of critical importance, will save the lives of our soldiers and accelerate the liberation of our land from Russian aggressors. I appreciate the strategic friendship between Our two countries, together to achieve victory."

On Friday, the White House announced heavy weapons shipments to Ukraine, worth about $270 million, bringing the total military aid to the country to $8.2 billion, since the start of the administration of US President Joe Biden.

The new US aid package includes 36,000 artillery shells and vehicles and 580 "Phoenix Ghost" drones.

Zelensky stated that the grinding war, which has been going on for five months, may end by the end of the year, if the West fulfills its commitments to continue supplying Kiv with the necessary weapons.

For its part, Russia has warned America and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that supplying arms to Ukraine will only prolong the war.
