Mayer (30) clocked the fourth fastest 100m of his career, just shy of his best time (10.50 at the Doha Worlds in 2019) but ahead of his straight from the Tokyo Olympics last summer (10.68 ).

The world record holder (9,126 points) then jumped to 7.54m, his 9th best competition in length.

After two events out of ten, Mayer is thus 6th with 1,892 points.

Canadian Olympic champion Damian Warner is first as expected with 2,057 points.
