The German Diabetes Association said that some skin changes warn of diabetes, most notably the round brown spots, which take the form of scars.

The association explained that these skin changes often appear on the shin, feet and forearms.

Another warning sign is a severe fungal infection in the armpit or groin area.

The association stressed the need to consult a doctor immediately upon noticing these skin changes, especially if they are accompanied by the characteristic symptoms of diabetes represented by extreme thirst, frequent urination and weight loss.

On the other hand, the association recommended diabetics to take daily care of their skin using moisturizing care products, which contain glycerin, panthenol, aloe vera, vitamin E and urea.
