The responses of the political forces in Sudan to the speech of Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, in which he said that he and the Chairman of the Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, had honestly decided to leave the matter of governance to civilians and that the regular forces would devote themselves to performing their tasks in accordance with the constitution and the law.

The responses varied between welcoming that Hemedti's speech reflected the seriousness of the military establishment in handing over power to civilians, and between those who described it as deceit and lies, throwing dust in the eyes and carrying nothing new.

The Political Secretary of the opposition People's Congress Party, Kamal Omar, said that the statement of the Vice-President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council addresses the demands of the political forces for civilian rule, and restores the army to its primary role in protecting the homeland.

For his part, the spokesman for the Forces of Freedom and Change - the National Accord Group, Muhammad Zakaria, said in a statement to Al-Jazeera that the statement reinforced the speech of Al-Burhan and confirmed that the military institution is serious about handing over power to civilians, and that it is keen on the peace agreement.

In turn, the spokesman for the Communist Party in Sudan, Fathi Al-Fadl, described - in a telephone statement to Al Jazeera - Hemedti's talk as a deception and a throwing of ashes in El-Ayoun.

As for the spokesman for the Sudanese Professionals Association, Al-Waleed Ali, he believed that Hemedti's statement did not carry anything new, and came as a continuation of the statement of Al-Burhan on the fourth of this July.

Ali pointed out that talking about moving away from power is nothing but a lie, because the army generals control the keys to the state and the real power, according to his expression.

Hamidati's statement

In a statement on Friday evening, Hemedti said, "Together, we decided to give the revolutionary forces and national political forces the opportunity to negotiate and agree without interfering with us in the military establishment."

He called on all the revolutionary forces and the national political forces to expedite the arrival of urgent solutions that lead to the formation of the institutions of the transitional government.

He also called on what he described as "honorable patriots from political, revolutionary and societal forces" to unite and pay attention to the dangers facing the country, and to reach urgent and effective political solutions to the current crises of the country.

He stressed that the time has come to arbitrate the voice of reason, and to renounce all forms of useless conflict in which no one will win except the enemies of this country and those who lurk in evil, as he put it.

He added that he monitors and is fully aware of the internal and external schemes that lie in wait in the country, and that Sudan is currently going through the most serious crises in its modern national history, threatening its unity, safety, security and social fabric.

He stressed that "the spread of tribal conflicts throughout the country and bloodshed without taking into account the sanctity of the soul that God has forbidden, and the rising voices of hatred and racism will inevitably lead our country to collapse, which we will not be part of and we will not remain silent or silent at all about everyone who threatens this country and its people." .

He reiterated his full commitment to work to protect the goals of the revolution and the transitional period until it leads to a real democratic transformation and free and fair elections.
