• USA Tragedy in Uvalde: "Ellie wanted to be a teacher when she grew up, but that's over"

A campsite in the US town of Maquoketa (Iowa) has been temporarily closed by the authorities after a shooting that has resulted in four deaths, one of them the alleged attacker.

Agents from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office went to the Maquoketa Caves Nature Park after receiving a tip, and found three bodies, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Special Agent Mike Krapfl said at a news conference Friday.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, the agents realized that a camper was missing, who was found, also dead, in the vicinity of the campsite.

The 23-year-old man showed signs of having taken his own life with a firearm, according to local media.

The investigation of the event continues to try to identify the victims and their relationship with the alleged attacker, although the authorities insist that there is no danger to the public.

Even so, the park will remain closed while the investigation is carried out.
