Intense exchange of fire between Taliban and militants in northern Afghanistan

Heavy exchange of fire continued between Taliban forces and unknown gunmen in the capital of Baghlan Province, northern Afghanistan, on Saturday.

Local media reported that clashes were raging around the state police headquarters in the city of Bel Khumri.

The main highway in the city was temporarily closed due to the intensity of the fighting.

The shooting was heard in videos posted on social media.

The director of the Taliban's Department of Information and Culture in the state, Mustafa al-Hashemi, said that a disinfection operation was underway in a suspicious residence near government offices in the state.
