On Friday morning, one of the year's big gatherings got underway.

In previous editions, between 8,000-15,000 people have come to Mariefred over two days for the Nordic food truck championships, according to jury chairman Mattias Kroon.

- I believe in something similar this year, if not even more, as we have had a break for a few years, he says.

The last time the championships were held was in 2019 and the first time was eight years ago.

Back then there were only eight food trucks and at most there have been about 35.

Eight was too little and 35 was too much, according to Mattias Kroon.

This year it will be something in between.

- It looks like there will be 22, plus a tent that will make insect food and a table with Italian products.

Then the Correctional Service comes here and prepares prison food.

They will also set up an authentic prison cell so that people can get an insight into their work and how they work with food and nutrition, he says.

- We are here to show off and try to get the visitors interested in a job in the correctional system, says Håkan Jylhä, production manager at Mariefredsanstalten.

They will have an expert jury and a children's jury who will be able to choose "The children's favorite".

Mattias Kroon is chairman of the expert jury.

He is very much looking forward to it finally getting underway.

- It feels very exciting and there is always a lot going on.

It has a bit of a circus feel, says Mattias Kroon.

Future food and sausage stuffing

It is a pest control company that offers mealworm coverage.

- It's mostly that it's a fun thing to try something new that will probably become more common in the future, considering the environmental footprint, says Pierre Vikström.

For the children there was a workshop in sausage stuffing.

- It was not at all what I thought, says 10-year-old Isabella Engström, from Strängnäs.
