The French Olympic champions, winners of this League of Nations in 2015 and 2017, will face Italy in the semi-final on Saturday, still in Bologna (9:00 p.m.).

Host country Italy, ranked first after the preliminary round, qualified on Wednesday by beating the Netherlands 3 sets to 1.

The last quarter-final will oppose in the evening (9:00 p.m.) Poland, double world champion in title, to Iran.

The winner will meet the United States on Saturday (6:00 p.m.) in the semi-finals, Wednesday winners of the Brazilian defending champions (3-1).

The France team, with its new Italian coach Andrea Giani, clearly dominated a Japanese formation led by former French coach Philippe Blain.

The score had been identical between the two countries on June 25 during the preliminary round.
