Royals Diana of Wales: "Raped daily" by the media for a love that would have vanished
The BBC
will pay damages to Princes William and Harry's former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke,
over "false and malicious" accusations
made against her in order to obtain an interview with Princess Diana
in 1995.
Alexandra Pettifer, better known as Tiggy Legge-Bourke, appeared
before the High Court in London on
Thursday to
hear a public apology from the station,
whose employee Martin Bashir used
"fraudulent" tactics
to get that interview, an internal investigation revealed in 2020. .
According to that investigation, Bashir, who
resigned in May 2021 due to "health problems",
used false documentation, such as
bank statements,
to convince Diana's brother, Earl
Charles Spencer,
that it was in the Princess of Wales's interest. talk to the program

Regarding the nanny,
it was falsely argued that she had had an affair with Prince Charles,
heir to the throne, and an abortion, while working as his personal assistant in 1995, the BBC itself reports today.
The interview with Diana
had a great impact at the time,
as the princess was honest about the
problems of her relationship with Carlos,
from whom she separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996, a year before she died in a car accident in Paris.
Legge-Bourke's lawyer, Louise Prince, told the London court that the slander had
"serious personal consequences for all involved."
He pointed out that, although
for 25 years his client did not know where they came from,
research into Bashir's methods suggests that they were related to the objective of obtaining the interview.
For his part, the director general of the BBC,
Tim Davie,
declared today that the corporation "would like to take this opportunity to
publicly apologize to her,
the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate) and Sussex (Harry and Meghan), because of the way
Princess Diana was cheated
on and the subsequent impact on her entire life."
