Learn about the Paxolvid drug that Biden took to confront Corona

Today, Thursday, US President Joe Biden began taking Paxilvid pills, produced by Pfizer, to combat the emerging corona virus.

And the White House said, in a statement, that Biden had taken a positive test for Covid-19, noting that the 79-year-old president had "mild symptoms" and would continue to do his work during his isolation.

The US President had received a complete vaccine against "Covid-19", and he also received two booster doses, the last of which was last March.

On July 7, the US Food and Drug Administration announced that it had allowed pharmacists who have a license from the state to prescribe the drug produced by the "Pfizer" company in the form of pills to treat "Corona" to eligible patients.

And the drug "Paxlovid", months ago, was approved for use, and it has been available free of charge in the United States since last December.

The use of the drug, which is authorized to treat newly infected patients at risk of severe symptoms, has jumped in the past few weeks as the number of infections has risen.

According to the observatory sheet, Jack Resnick, president of the American Medical Association, says: “It (Paxlovid) is not for everyone, and its prescription requires knowledge of the patient’s medical history, in addition to clinical monitoring of side effects and follow-up to determine whether the patient is improving.”
