“Roskomnadzor has decided to apply a coercive measure in the form of informing search engines of Internet users about a violation by a foreign person of Russian law,” the supervisory authority said.
The measures will be in effect until the violations of Russian legislation are completely eliminated.
It is noted that on the Wikipedia resource owned by the organization, a number of materials recognized as prohibited have not been removed, including fakes about the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
The total amount of fines that were imposed on the company by a Russian court amounted to 5 million rubles.
In April, a court fined Wikimedia 2 million rubles for failing to remove fake news about the special operation.
