China News Service, Guangzhou, July 20th (Cai Minjie and Wu Xu) The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Yuexiu) Preclinical Animal Experiment Service Center was unveiled in Yuexiu, Guangzhou on the 20th.

According to Lei Jinyuan, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Huanghuagang Science and Technology Park, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, the center plans to build an advanced experimental service platform integrating basic research, development and application, and technical services, and to establish a world-class non-clinical biomedicine and medical device. The safety and efficacy evaluation research organization attracts talents from the global biopharmaceutical industry to enter Guangdong, enhances the province's biopharmaceutical basic research capabilities, and promotes the take-off of the biopharmaceutical industry in the Greater Bay Area.

Preclinical animal experiments are the effectiveness and safety evaluation experiments performed on animals before the clinical trials of drugs or medical devices, and are an important link in the design and development of medical device products.

According to reports, the service center integrates abundant experimental resources and the advantages of project cooperation with top scientists, and sets up a laboratory animal application research and pre-clinical CRO service center, covering experimental monkeys, pigs, beagle dogs, mice and other popular experimental animals, and develop animal diseases. Model research, in order to promote human major disease research and new drug research and development, vigorously enhance the biomedical basic research capabilities of Yuexiu District, and provide support services for the biomedical scientific research foundation of the Greater Bay Area.

At the same time, the service center establishes a platform for the transformation of achievements, promotes the sharing of scientific and technological resources, deepens the cooperation of "production, learning, research and application", and builds a complete system from basic research, technology research and development, pilot production, clinical trials to drug production and health services. The industrial chain vigorously promotes the transformation of clinical results, attracts biomedical talents from all over the world to settle in Guangzhou Yuexiu, and leads the biomedical industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to take off.

According to reports, Yuexiu District, as the core area of the national central city, is one of the areas where Guangzhou's life and health resources are concentrated, with a total area of 33.8 square kilometers and 406 medical institutions, accounting for one-third of the city's Nearly 40%, the agglomeration degree of tertiary hospitals is higher than that of similar urban areas such as Beijing and Shanghai.

At the same time, there are 16 drug clinical trial institutions (GCP).

In 2021, the life and health industry will achieve an added value of 36.071 billion yuan, accounting for 9.9% of GDP, an increase of 6.6%.

Yuexiu District takes advantage of medical resources agglomeration to develop the life and health industry, establishes the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Life and Health Industry Innovation Zone (Yuexiu), drives the city's health industry development with high-level medical service resources, serves the whole province, and radiates to the Bay Area.

At present, the above-mentioned innovation zones have promoted a number of life and health industry projects, expanding the space carrier of more than 1 million square meters, with a total investment of more than 8 billion yuan, and successively built the Sun Yat-sen University Intellectual Property Transfer and Transformation Center (Health and Medical Industry Base) Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Life and Health Industry Technology Transformation Center, Guangzhou Innovative Drug Clinical Trial Service Center, Life and Health Supercomputing Guangzhou Center Yuexiu Branch Center, etc.

Lei Jinyuan said that in the field of medical research in the Greater Bay Area, the Hong Kong and Macao regions and Guangzhou have developed in dislocation.

For example, in the fields of ophthalmology, respiratory, cardiovascular and traditional Chinese medicine, Guangzhou has its talent and technical advantages, and ranks in the forefront in the Greater Bay Area and even the whole country. Therefore, in the field of medical research and clinical research, cities in the Bay Area need cooperating.

"Actually, for the above-mentioned advantageous disciplines, Guangzhou and Hong Kong and Macau have their own communication mechanisms in terms of academic research. Our center is to embed what the government can serve, and plan to support them through special policies in the Bay Area. This matter." Lei Jinyuan said.
