A traveler trying to smuggle a painting by Pablo Picasso into Spain after cheating it into a copy has been caught by Spanish customs.

The traveler, who arrived in Ibiza by plane from Switzerland, submitted a handwritten receipt to customs with 1,500 Swiss francs and about 2 million Korean won, saying the sketch was "just a cheap copy."

However, when customs officials searched the suitcase, they found a real receipt issued by the Zurich Museum of Art.

The receipt stated that Picasso's 'Three Figures' sketch drawn in 1966 was sold for 450,000 francs, or about 600 million won.

The Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art also said that the work was an original work by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, with a market value equal to the amount stated on the receipt.

Spanish authorities will request a detailed inspection of works confiscated due to omission of customs declaration.

Netizens responded, "A person who pays 600 million won to buy an art piece has a conscience that doesn't even cost 2 million won."
