“Sold at bargain prices”: what can the sale of weapons supplied to Ukraine on the black market lead to

The weapons that the United States is now supplying to Ukraine will eventually end up in the hands of criminals and terrorists around the world.

This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

“The American weapons now being delivered to Little Russia will spread through the hands of various criminals around the world.

More precisely, it is already spreading with might and main.

Moreover, under the “roof” of the US administration and special services,” the politician wrote in his Telegram channel.

"In fact, America is once again becoming a sponsor of international terrorism," Medvedev stressed.

“I do not rule out that later, together with responsible countries, we will have to work out the possibility of creating a special mechanism to investigate this rotten weapons plot.

And it is possible to think about the formation of a special international body for the seizure of American gifts crawling out here and there, ”said the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that this would not affect “the final scenario” in any way.

“Professional gun thieves in the US and Ukraine will line their pockets well.

Terrorists and radicals will have more deadly types of military equipment.

Russia will achieve all its goals," Medvedev added.

"We don't know their whereabouts"

Last week, the Financial Times reported on the plans of the EU and NATO to tighten control over the transfer of weapons to Ukraine due to fears that they will fall on the black market.

According to sources of the publication, several countries of the alliance are discussing the possibility of creating a tracking system or a detailed list of supplied weapons.

An unnamed official from a Western country told the newspaper that the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance have no way to track arms shipments after they are delivered to the border with Ukraine.

According to him, after that, the West “knows nothing” about the whereabouts of the weapons intended for the Kyiv regime.

“All these weapons arrive in the south of Poland, are delivered to the border, and then for further transportation they are simply distributed among vehicles: trucks, vans, sometimes private cars.

And from that moment on, we don’t know their whereabouts, we have no idea where they go, where they are used and, in general, whether they remain in the country, ”the Financial Times quoted the interlocutor as saying.

Concerns about the spread of Western weapons outside Ukraine were also expressed by European politicians.

Thus, the head of the Czech Defense Ministry, Yana Chernokhova, said earlier that such a scenario could not be avoided.

"Illicit trade or smuggling is difficult to prevent - we failed to achieve this in the former Yugoslavia, and in Ukraine it may not be possible either," the minister said.

Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock also warned of the danger of the situation.

“As soon as (in Ukraine. -

) the shots stop, the illegal circulation of weapons is activated.

We know this from many other conflict zones.

The head of the international organization stressed that criminal groups are trying to take advantage of the chaos in Ukraine and the availability of weapons on its territory, "even those used by the armed forces, including heavy weapons."

“They will get into the criminal market and create a problem.

No country and no region can cope with this on its own, since these groups operate at the global level,” Shtok explained.

According to the official, one can expect an influx of weapons from the territory of Ukraine not only to Europe and neighboring countries, but also to other continents.

“Criminals are interested in all types of weapons ... in fact, any weapon suitable for carrying can be used for criminal purposes,” said the Secretary General of Interpol.

Despite numerous fears about the future of weapons supplied to Ukraine, the US denies that its actions to pump weapons, ammunition and military equipment to the Kyiv regime could have a similar effect.

Thus, Deputy Head of the US State Department for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins said on July 12 that Washington fully trusts Kyiv in this matter.

“The United States takes our responsibility to protect US-origin defense technologies and prevent their misuse or illegal distribution very seriously,” Jenkins said.

According to her, Washington is confident that the government of Ukraine "firmly intends to provide the United States with proper protection and accounting (weapons. -

Meanwhile, analysts believe that the scenario of saturation of the black market and smuggling channels with Western weapons through Ukraine is inevitable, since the republic, even before the special operation, actually served as a hub for such activities.

“Huge deliveries of Western weapons, which have been implemented for a long time, inevitably lead to the fact that some of these weapons will fall into the hands of those to whom they were not intended.

Ukraine has been trading in weapons for a long time and saturating the black market with them - the necessary channels have been worked out there and communications have been established.

Now it is even easier to organize it, and there are even more weapons for these purposes.

It will be sold at dumping prices, five or ten times cheaper than it costs American manufacturers, which is extremely profitable, ”said Alexei Podberezkin, director of the MGIMO Center for Military-Political Research, in an interview with RT.

He is sure that there will be plenty of buyers for American weapons at low prices.

“For example, the supply of portable air defense systems in the world is very tightly controlled.

Many would have bought them with pleasure, but they could not - there was nowhere to get them.

Now Ukraine has more than enough such MANPADS, a huge number that allows them to make from 10 to 15 launches on one target.

Nobody saves them, nobody counts them,” the political scientist explained.

The same applies to anti-tank systems that can be used against cars, civilian ships, and trains, Podberyozkin added.

“Americans and Europeans have begun to realize that the consequences of their policies will be felt for a very long time.

In the coming decades, these weapons will pop up somewhere and bring very serious problems.

They don't know how to deal with it.

So far, the US and the EU say they want to control it, although they simply won’t be able to control it on the territory of Ukraine and Poland, ”the expert emphasized.

Military expert Alexei Leonkov, in a conversation with RT, for his part, recalled that the weapons supplied to Ukraine had already entered the black market - this information is being actively discussed in social networks and the media.

“There is direct evidence that the darknet sells those weapons that come to Ukraine as military aid, and they are sold there at bargain prices.

Moreover, the nomenclature and batch numbers confirm that these weapons are from Ukrainian supplies.

In addition, the Americans have repeatedly admitted that they do not control the further fate of weapons that cross the Ukrainian border, ”said the analyst.

He did not rule out that the United States could completely relieve itself of responsibility for the further fate of the weapons provided to Kyiv.
