The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced the start of implementing the amendment to the provisions of Law No. (2) of 2012 in the matter of maintaining the general appearance, health and public tranquility


in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and for the Department of Municipalities and Transport, which aims to achieve the vision of the Abu Dhabi government and the strategy of the Department of Municipalities and Transport for development. sustainable development, enhancing the quality of life in the Emirate through a distinguished general appearance, world-leading facilities and infrastructure, developing texts, legislative materials and guiding guides in line with the changes and continuous growth in the Emirate, and maintaining public health and tranquility in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.


According to the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office, the amendment updates the practical requirements for implementing the law and the executive decisions issued according to it, and provides the opportunity for violators to file grievances regarding violations before the relevant department in the municipality to ensure justice and preserve their rights, and contribute to strengthening ways to enforce the law to achieve community commitment. in all its categories with its provisions, in addition to enabling the concerned authorities to remove violations with the required speed.

The decision included fundamental amendments in line with future trends in the emirate, including converting the fines stipulated in the law into administrative fines imposed by the concerned department in the municipality directly instead of referring them to the Public Prosecution, granting flexibility in determining the value of the fine commensurate with the nature of the violation, the possibility of offering reconciliation to


Violators, and the violator who accepts reconciliation must pay a fine equivalent to (75%) of the total administrative fine specified for the violation within a period not exceeding sixty days from the date of the reconciliation offer to him, obligating the violator to remove the effects of the violation on the specified date or the concerned municipality to remove them at the expense of the violator.

Law No. 2 of 2012 comprehensively prohibits any work that would prejudice or harm the general appearance, cultural, architectural and aesthetic aspects of public places in the emirate, including green spaces, sidewalks, buildings, markets, public roads, or public health, in addition to canceling all Manifestations that cause disturbance in the Emirate, by ensuring the achievement of tranquility in the roads and public places, which ensure complete comfort for the public from any act that leads to noise or disturbance in any form, including any behavior that affects the freedom of others and their daily life.

The amendment to the provisions of the aforementioned law gives the Department of Municipalities and Transport the power to issue the executive regulations and decisions necessary to implement the law in coordination with the relevant authorities, through decisions issued by the department that included executive regulations and organizational legislation, and guides to all aspects mentioned in the law with an indication of violations and fines, including laws and administrative decisions.
