In the past ten years, colleges and universities have led the construction of more than 60% of the national key laboratories of disciplines and 30% of the national engineering (technology) research centers; the Ministry of Education has taken the initiative to build 25 cutting-edge science centers, There are 14 integrated research platforms, 38 national-level collaborative innovation centers, and more than 1,500 platforms such as key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, engineering research centers, and collaborative innovation centers jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education.

Every year, a large number of outstanding graduates enter national scientific research institutions, leading technology companies and research universities, providing a source of living water for the construction of the national strategic talent force and important talent support for the high-quality economic and social development.

In the past ten years, the R&D funds allocated to colleges and universities have increased from 76.87 billion yuan in 2012 to 159.2 billion yuan in 2021, and the cumulative total allocated funds for ten years has reached one trillion yuan.

The entrusted funds of enterprises and institutions have increased from 39.18 billion yuan in 2012 to 84.75 billion yuan in 2021, an increase of more than 116%.

The full-time equivalent of R&D personnel in scientific and technological activities in colleges and universities will increase from 209,000 in 2012 to 334,000 in 2021, an increase of nearly 60%.

The convergence of innovation resources has laid a solid foundation for the jump in the original innovation capabilities of colleges and universities and breakthroughs in key core technologies.

  Fourth, international scientific and technological cooperation has become more extensive.

In the past ten years, colleges and universities have sent nearly 400,000 person-times to participate in international scientific and technological cooperation research, 1.74 million person-times attended international academic conferences, published 187,000 invited reports and 883,000 exchange papers.

More colleges and universities have gone abroad and deeply participated in international major scientific projects such as the International Thermonuclear Fusion Experimental Reactor and Ocean Drilling. Universities such as China University of Geosciences took the lead in organizing one of the country's first international major scientific projects, "Deep Time Digital Earth (DDE)". , and a number of international major scientific programs are being cultivated at an accelerated pace.

The university has extensively carried out in-depth international cooperation with foreign high-level universities and research institutions, and has built more than 70 joint laboratories for international cooperation, which have become important windows and bridges for international scientific and technological cooperation.

The number of patent authorizations in colleges and universities increased from 69,000 in 2012 to 308,000 in 2021, an increase of 346.4%, and the authorization rate increased from 65.1% to 83.9%; the number of patent transfer and licensing contracts increased from more than 2,000 to 15,000. The amount of patent transformation increased from 820 million yuan to 8.89 billion yuan, an increase of nearly ten times, not only achieved quantitative growth, but also achieved qualitative improvement, turning more scientific and technological achievements into real productivity.
