A 25-year-old man was indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention, the Béthune prosecutor's office in Pas-de-Calais said on Monday.
The man is also being prosecuted for carrying weapons and attempted murder for attacking the victim's father.
The investigations are now continuing under the direction of an investigating judge, in particular to establish the motive for the crime, said the prosecution.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was killed by a shotgun blast near his home in Bailleul-sir-Berthoult, Pas-de-Calais, on Friday.
The victim's father, who had tried to disarm the perpetrator, was injured after being beaten on the head, the gendarmerie said.
