The People's Power holds the first city/province budget policy council to check local issues and discuss budget allocation.

Meetings are held sequentially with 17 cities and provinces across the country.

The People's Power will hold the Gwangju, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam Budget Policy Councils today (18th) at 2:15 pm at the Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall.

Kwon Seong-dong, acting leader and floor leader of the party, and Seong Il-jong, the policy chairperson, from the party, and Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jeong from local governments will attend.

At this meeting, we are expected to focus on regional promises that appeared in the March 9 presidential election and June 1 local elections, such as the promise to attract the Gwangju shopping mall (tentative name 'The Hyundai Gwangju').

The attraction of the Gwangju shopping complex is one of the promises that aroused the most interest among the pledges of the presidential election candidate Yoon Seok-yeol during the last presidential election.

Acting Kwon said at the Supreme Council meeting held today at the National Assembly, "Our party's promise to attract a complex shopping mall during the presidential election received a warm response. I think it was Honam's aspiration for regional development." We will actively support complex shopping malls, artificial intelligence industry, and future mobility industry to lead the development of stagnant Honam.”

It is interpreted that it is a dimension to secure integration and extension by attacking vulnerable areas in a situation where approval ratings continue to decline over the fact that the people's power has chosen the first Jeonhyeup region as the rugged Honam area.

In addition, it seems to be a strategy to absorb the Seojin policy led by Chairman Lee Jun-seok as a central strategy at the party level, not as an individual agenda.

Previously, CEO Lee launched a policy of seojin actively seeking out the Honam area in preparation for the last local election, and on the 13th, when he was in hiding after the ethics committee disciplinary action, posted a photo of climbing Mudeungsan in Gwangju on Facebook.

This visit to Honam also has the meaning of resolving the conflict caused by the disciplinary action of the Party Ethics Committee against Chairman Lee and shifting the center of gravity to taking care of regional issues as the ruling party.

Acting Kwon met with reporters from the top committee held at the National Assembly on the same day and said, "From our party's point of view, Honam is a sick region. It is because there are no members of our party constituency, low support, and low awareness of our party." He said, "Our party has continued to work together to bring Honam closer."

“So it would be right to go to an area where our party’s support is low and it would be appropriate to go to an area where the party’s support is low,” he explained.

However, Acting Kwon met with reporters after the undisclosed highest level and corrected the question, "Isn't there a lawmaker Lee Yong-ho, who has Sunchang-gun, Namwon-si, Imsil-gun, Jeollabuk-do as a member of the Sidang?", saying, "I was mistaken."

The People's Power plans to continue the meeting with the rest of the regions in turn.

At each meeting, party officials such as Acting Kwon and the chairperson of the gender policy committee, as well as the chairpersons of each city/province and the mayor/do governor, discuss local issues.

The Daegu-Gyeongsangbuk-do Association, scheduled for the 20th, is expected to discuss the special law for the construction of a new Daegu-Gyeongbuk integrated airport, and the Chungcheong region is expected to discuss the early opening of Sejong Shrine and the establishment of the Chungcheong region wide-area railway network.
