Three years after the death of the “White Zulu”, a concert was given in tribute to Johnny Clegg on Sunday July 17 in Johannesburg.
His music, committed against discrimination, marked the world and South Africa in the midst of the apartheid segregationist regime and he signed many hits that are still played daily on the radio.
If the Covid-19 pandemic had not made it possible to organize such an event after his death, but this time his family and his fans were able to celebrate together.

Theresa in, without stopping in front of the barriers that protect the stage, like when she was a student: “
We went to clubs and we danced a lot to his music.
I'm 73
, but I still dance to his music.

About 10,000 people gathered to
celebrate the memory of Johnny Clegg
, an audience of all ages, of all origins as a
symbol of living together that the "
White Zulu
" defended
.
“
He is one of the rare artists who can speak to all cultures, all origins, all languages
,” underlines Jesse Clegg, his son, who is one of the organizers.
And it is for this reason that it has become a universal symbol of empathy and brotherhood
: this message is very important today in South Africa.

As Gugu sings so well, the public awaits the cover
of "Asimbonanga"
, his "
favorite song
! "
".
This will be the penultimate piece of the evening: more than a song, a hymn.
Johnny Clegg should soon be talked about again since an adaptation of his memoirs published last year, on screen, should be announced soon.
